Junior Year? Check

Finally, the first week of summer break before I start my paid summer internship has come, freeing me from the regimented days of the school year. This week has been so relaxing filled with late mornings, crazy sleep schedules, good painting and being able to feel secure in the fact that I have finished my junior year that was filled with the stress of AP classes. While college choices remain a daunting task that I need to buckle down and focus on, I take solace in painting to help me focus on what I may want out of this journey. Painting is something that I haven't been able to do for a while but getting back into it has been well worth the wait. When I start working next week, I for sure will go into my office, rested, sun drenched, and ready to face the world. Here's one of the paintings I did.

One Love Manchester.

I've always wanted to go to an Ariana Grande concert and for sure what happened in Manchester will never stop me. Ariana Grande's benefit concert honoring the victims of the tragedy in Manchester will prove that being brave and showing solidarity in the face of adversity and chaos rings louder than hate and bigotry. The bravery shown by those performing and those attending will send a strong message to those bent on hate and death. Ultimately love will prevail - bravery will prevail. Bob Marley said so eloquently "Let's all get together and feel alright". In a progressive world like ours , there's no room for "LOSERS" who have no value for life and the human condition.

College Search Process.

For my first blog post, I will be discussing one of the most recent burdens on my mind... the search for a decent college. As senior year looms around the corner I am left with no other option but to become swept up in the frantic search for a college that will be a good fit for me. This school year so far has only been preparing me for this hectic time of searching, with AP tests and classes, SAT's and now trying to figure out when to take these tests again to get higher scores; all seem like a tornado that one can get sucked in to. So far, I have been visiting colleges that aren't too far away from the city (I don't think I am cut out for that suburban life) and colleges that fit my needs as a student who would like to pursue Journalism and or Political Science. Honestly, I feel like everything is happening so fast, as I finish my Junior year and while it's exciting its also daunting.
