During my last semester of junior year I took a class called International Relations which led into going to the Model UN conference representing different countries for various world problems. The conference was hosted by Lebanon this year and hosted students that came from so many different countries, it was an amazing experience meeting and creating memories with a group of diverse people and creating change that could actually effect the world. My group represented the World Health Organization (WHO) that deals with health issues around the world, I was particularly assigned to the country of Cambodia, learning so much about this country was an amazing learning experience. The overall experience of being in the Model UN Program opened my mind to so many intriguing facets of World Issues- all of a sudden the world came to represent something much more personal than ever before. Drafting a resolution to world health issues within my bloc proved to be an interesting task, to work with people from different countries was an opportunity that I will be forever entranced with. The speaker in my committee for the World Health Organization inspired me so much that I am considering going into this field in the future. This experience has made me see that I could have a calling in this world, in affairs local and international because of the ability to actually influence change in the world for the better. I can say that the Model UN has changed my life helping me realize what I may want to do in the future. Here are some photos of the conference halls that were amazingly beautiful.
